It’s really not enough to just contemplate change.
You have to take action, and they must be action steps that lead you to where you want to go. In this article, I want to share with you some thoughts around what comes up when we want change to happen and what to do about it.
We’ve been talking about the importance of deciding what you want in life – being very clear about what you want and, especially, how you want to feel. That all seems pretty easy, but from where I sit, I see over and over again, the resistance to actually making the decision (I do it myself!).
Move Toward Your Decision
When this happens, ask yourself “what do I need to let go of in order for me to move more easily towards what I want?”
Do you need to let go of worry? An assumption? Fear of not knowing the exact outcome? If it’s a way of thinking, replace those thoughts with those that serve you better. If it’s a toxic relationship, let it go and bring in a healthy relationship.
The next powerful step is to determine what you need to believe in order to create what you want. For example, if you want to be healthy and fit, you need to believe you CAN be healthy and fit.
If you’re starting a new career, you need to believe in your ability to learn and be successful.
If you want a beautiful, deep, healthy relationship, you need to believe that there is someone out there who has the same desires.
Once you determine what you need to believe, decide to believe it, and then hold on to that belief regardless of what anyone says.

You are your best experiment. Take the time to be conscious about these steps toward creating the change you want in your life. This is key consciousness work to do that will make the follow-up action steps seem easy.
