Meditation To Go!

I am so happy to hear that many of you are meditating or performing some form of mindfulness practice. And the feedback you give me is that the more you practice, the easier it becomes, and the more relaxed and calm you feel. As your Mindset Mentor, I would then ask, “Why not bring it with you into your day?”

This is what I suggest. Keep close contact with your internal self (check what your feelings are like) and maintain the ‘meditative’ awareness at many moments during the day, even if it is for very short periods of time. You will find that the good feelings you have experienced through conscious choice, in meditation, you carry them with you into your interactions with others. Then, in any exchange, although the other person’s thoughts, words or actions may not be as you would like them to be, you’ll be better equipped to maintain a good feeling towards that individual, and towards yourself.

For example, let’s say you meditate in the morning and then leave home and find yourself in a situation in the office where two of your colleagues are arguing over an issue. When you try and intervene, one of them gets aggressive with you, but the feelings of peace you experienced in your meditation a couple of hours ago are still with you. You do not react angrily or fearfully. In fact, if your peace is powerful enough, it will make the other one also peaceful. You see how this could be the same within your family and relationships?!

To go one step further (I love expansion!), you could collect positive feelings through meditation at regular intervals during the day. Then become a donor of positive feelings to negative situations. This is an invaluable achievement. It is good for your own wellbeing, and for contributing to the creation of a peaceful atmosphere wherever you are, whenever required.

My best advice is… “Don’t leave home without it!”

Mindfully,

Ellie
